Ian has been a qualified Veterinary Surgeon since 2007. After graduating from The Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies, University of Edinburgh he went into mixed practice in west Wales for six years. He moved to West Yorkshire in 2013 after joining Hird and Partners in Halifax as an Equine Vet, after gaining his certificate in soft tissue surgery in 2016 he quickly became one of their principal surgeons operating on 100’s of horses a year. He moved to Churchfield Equine Clinic in 2023 and took over as Clinical Director, overseeing the vast improvements the clinic has undergone.
He has an interest in advanced dentistry and standing surgery as well as laser surgery and treatment of sarcoids and melanoma’s.
Outside of work Ian enjoys spending time with family taking his daughter showjumping with her horse Pixie and watching his son play cricket. In his spare time he can often be found walking his dog Bracken and doing some DIY.
