Kathryn has worked at Churchfield Vets for 35 years and gained her veterinary nurse qualification in 2018. Since qualifying, Kathryn obtained a Certificate in Feline Nursing from International cat care. Kathryn has a special affinity with cats and enjoys looking after her feline patients.
Kathryn’s day to day duties involves, patient care, assisting the Vets, providing nurse consultations, lab work, reception duties, taking x-rays, anaesthetic monitoring and infection control. Kathryn particularly enjoys consulting, as it involves direct patient care and client communication.
Kathryn’s additional responsibilities include, looking after the laboratory and x-ray equipment. Kathryn is the practice Radiation Protection Supervisor; this involves monitoring that the x-ray equipment is used correctly and making sure that it is maintained.
Outside of the practice Kathryn enjoys gardening. She likes to provide a safe environment for wildlife and insects (particularly bees). This is done by not using pesticides and growing flowers that attract a biodiversity of insect species.
